Amazon Brand Protection and Brand Registry Assistance
When you find suspected counterfeit or copied content on Amazon, you need to know what can be reported and what evidence supports the complaint. Amazon Brand Registry provides tools for taking action, but the appropriate response depends on the rights you hold and the conduct involved.

Applying for Brand Registry
Amazon generally requires an active registered trademark or an eligible pending application from an accepted intellectual property office. The requirements vary by country. Brand Registry enrollment does not register your trademark or create intellectual property rights.
Before applying, check that the brand name matches the trademark record. Gather the registration or application number, product categories, and photographs showing the brand permanently attached to the product or packaging. Amazon does not accept stock images or digitally added branding as proof of that attachment.
The trademark owner must submit the initial application. The owner creates a Brand Registry account, enters the brand information, and provides the supporting materials. Amazon then verifies ownership and may request additional documents or a verification code sent to the public trademark contact. After enrollment, the owner can grant appropriate access to authorized representatives.
Enrollment itself is free. It provides access to Report a Violation and automated protections against suspected infringement. Eligible brands may also use A+ Content, Brand Stores, Brand Analytics, Sponsored Brands, and Amazon Vine. These features have their own requirements, and some involve additional costs. Transparency, Project Zero, and Amazon Patent Evaluation Express also have separate participation requirements.
Our role during enrollment is to check trademark ownership and application records, identify inconsistencies, and help organize the supporting documents. Where a U.S. trademark application is required, we can advise on filing and prepare the application. The owner remains responsible for submitting the initial Brand Registry application.
Filing a Complaint and Understanding the Possible Results
A complaint must explain which right is involved, where the suspected infringement appears, and what supports the allegation. A counterfeit claim and a complaint about copied photographs require different evidence. A disagreement over reseller authorization alone does not establish infringement.
Preserve listing URLs, ASINs, seller details, and dated screenshots. Gather the relevant trademark or patent records, original creative materials, and documents establishing ownership or authority to act. Use the guided Report a Violation process to identify the issue and provide the requested information. After submission, track the report in Submission History and retain Amazon's decisions and correspondence.
If Amazon accepts the complaint, it may remove the reported content or offer. The report also records what was submitted and how Amazon responded. Removal is not guaranteed, and a platform decision does not establish liability in court. Claims for compensation or court orders require a separate legal assessment.
Rights owners who are not enrolled in Brand Registry can use Amazon's separate Report Infringement form. A complaint involving copied photographs may rely on copyright rights independently of trademark registration.
